Amy Prevost, M.S.
Amy has worked with BTCI since 1999, but came on staff full time in June
2004. She serves as the coordinator for most of the adult outreach
and continuing education programs offered. The BTCI model for adult educational
practice incorporates andragocial theory and aims to connect theoretical
learning with concrete examples through the use of hands-on laboratory
experiences for every level of adult learner, from non-scientist to those with
many years' laboratory experience. In addition to her role as coordinator, Amy
serves as an instructor and is involved in the design, development,
implementation and evaluation of new and existing courses for adults.
Amy has undergraduate degrees from UW-Madison in Molecular Biology and French
(1999). She was awarded the Hilldale scholarship for research for her work with
analyzing gene expression in Hyla versicolor. She received a master's
degree in Adult and Continuing Education (2003), and is currently enrolled as a
Ph.D. student (Anticipated Graduation 2009) in UW-Madison's Education Leadership
and Policy Analysis Department, continuing her studies of higher education and
adult and continuing education.
Amy is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science
and the Wisconsin Biotechnology and Medical Device Association. She
has served as both a mentor and instructor for the Dane County Youth
Apprenticeship Program in Biotechnology. In addition, Amy holds adjunct faculty
positions with the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health Clinical Laboratory Sciences program
and the UW-Madison Neuroscience Training Program.
